In the Specialized Scientific Council of the Institute were defended the theses for PhD (Historical Sciences), specialization 27.00.02 – Documents Study, Archival Study: 1. Boiko V.: «Unification of Documentation in Ukraine: History and Current Conditions». 2. Otamas’ І.: «Organizing of Records Management in the Regions of the UkrSSR–UkrSSR in 1920–1980-s (by the Example of Cherkasy Region)».
By the decision of the members of the Specialized Scientific Council V. Boiko and I. Otamas’ were unanimously awarded the PhD (Historical Sciences).

At the meeting of the Specialized Scientific Council of the Institute were taken into consideration dissertations of V. Boiko «Unification of the Documentation in Ukraine: History and Present State» and I. Otamas’ «Arrangement of Records Management in the Regions of the Ukrainian Socialist Soviet Republic and the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1920-1980 (by the Example of Cherkasy Region)». Took place the defence of the dissertation by T. Bilushchak «Archival Sources on Military Affairs in L’viv in the Second Half of the XIV – XVIII Centuries: Classification, Functions, Information Potential» submitted for PhD (Historical Sciences), speciality 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines.
Members of the Specialized Scientific Council unanimously by their decision awarded PhD degree (Historical Sciences) to T. Bilushchak.

At the meeting of the Specialized Scientific Council of the Institute was taken to the public defence the dissertation by T.M. Biluschak on «Archival Sources on Military Affairs in L’viv in the Second Half of the XIV–XVIII Centuries: Classification, Functions, Information Potential», submitted for the PhD (History), speciality 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines. Took place the public defence of the dissertation by L. V. Senina on «Russia and «The Eastern Question» in the English Historiography (the End of the XIX – the Beginning of the XXI Century)», submitted for PhD (History), speciality 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines.
The members of the Specialized Scientific Council unanimously decided to assign PhD (History) to L. V. Senina.

Took place the meeting of the Specialized Scientific Council of the URIAARK. There was set up the expert committee to review the dissertation by T. M. Biluschak on «Archival Sources on Military Affairs in L’viv in the Second Half of the XIV–XVIII Centuries: Classification, Functions, Information Potential», submitted for the PhD (History), speciality 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines.

Took place the meeting of the Specialized Academic Council of the URIAARK which accepted for defence the dissertation of Senina L. V. On «Russia and «Eastern Question» in the ХІХ century in the English historiography (the end of the ХІХ – the beginning of the ХХІ centuries)», submitted for acquisition of PhD degree (Historical Sciences) on specialization 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Study and Special Historical Disciplines.

In the Specialized Scientific Council of the Institute, were defended dissertations by H. M. Vintoniv «Ukrainian documentary information resources in cyberspace of Canada: structure, content and methodology of the search» and V. I. Dolinovskyi «Organization and activities of the Land Archives in L’viv (1919-1933)» submitted for PhD (Historical Sciences) in speciality 27.00.02 – Records Keeping, Archival Study. By the Decision of the Specialized Scientific Council, H. M. Vintoniv and V. I. Dolinovskyi were unanimously awarded the PhD (Historical Sciences) degree.

In the Specialized Scientific Council of the Institute took place the defence of the dissertation of Alekseev Sergii Yurievych on «Documents of regional management of archives, libraries and museums as the source on the history of institutions of culture in the Reich Commissariat Ukraine (1941-1943)», submitted for PhD (Historical Sciences) in specialization 07.00.06 – historiography, source study and special historical disciplines. S. Yu. Alekseev was unanimously awarded the scientific degree of PhD (Historical Sciences) by the Decision of the members of the Specialized Scientific Council.

Took place the regular meeting of the specialized scientific council in the URIAARK, which approved as to be accepted for the defence the dissertation by S. Alekseev «Documents of the Provincial administration of archives, libraries and museums as the source on the history of the activities of cultural institutions in the Reich Commissariat of Ukraine (1941-1943)» submitted for the degree of PhD (Historical Sciences).

On the agenda was set the issue of establishing the expert commission to review the dissertation for acquisition of PhD degree (Historical Sciences) by Zagorul’ko R. O. «Newspapers of Kyiv of 1905-1914 as a source to study the Ukrainian issue».

In the Specialized Academic Council of the Institute was held thesis of Zagorulko Rostyslav, a postgraduate of the Department of archival studies and special branches of historical science, History Department, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, on the topic: «Newspapers of Kyiv 1905-1914 biennium as a source for studying the Ukrainian question», submitted for PhD (Historical Sciences), specialty 07.00.06 - Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines. By the decision of the Specialized Academic Council R. Zagorulko was unanimously awarded PhD (Historical Sciences).

Alekseev on «Documents for regional management of archives, libraries and museums as the source on the history of institutions of culture in the Reich Commissariat of Ukraine in 1941-1943» submitted for the PhD (Historical Sciences) degree.

In the Specialized Scientific Council took place the defence of the thesis presented by Tetyana Garaschuk, chief specialist of the department on forming of the National Archival Fund and records management of the State Archives of Zhytomyr region, on “Organization of records management in the parliamentary assemblies of the nobility on the territory of Ukraine (end of XVIII – beginning of XX centuries)”, submitted for the scientific degree of PhD (History) on specialization 27.00.02 – records keeping, archival keeping.
Due to the unanimous decision of the members of the Specialized Scientific Council Tetyana Garaschuk was awarded the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy (History).

In the Specialized Scientific Council took place the defence of the theses presented by Yurii Kovtanyuk, Deputy Director of the Central State Electronic Archives of Ukraine, on “Electronic records keeping in Ukraine: essence of the scientific direction, formation history, development prospects” and Natalia Sal’nikova, the head of the department on practices organization and employment of graduates of Mariupol’ state university, on “Regulatory and scientific-methodical providing of records management in Ukraine in 1920–1930-s”, submitted for the scientific degree of PhD (History) on specialization 27.00.02 – records keeping, archival keeping.
Due to the unanimous decision of the members of the Specialized Scientific Council Yurii Kovtanyuk and Natalia Sal’nikova were awarded the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy (History).

In the Specialized Scientific Council took place the defence of the thesis presented by Kaparulin Yurii, post-graduate student of Kherson state university, on “O. O. Ryabinin-Sklyarevs’kyi (1878 1942): intellectual biography of the historian”, submitted for the scientific degree of PhD (History) on specialization 07.00.06 – historiography, source studies and special historical disciplines.
Due to the unanimous decision of the members of the Specialized Scientific Council Yurii Kaparulin was awarded the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy (History).

In the Specialized Academic Council, took place the defence of the dissertation by Zozulya Svitlana Mykolaivna, Head of the Scientific and Editorial Department of the State Scientific Pedagogical Library of Ukraine named after Vasyl’ Olexandrovych Sukhomlyns’kyi, on «Current archival terminology in Ukraine» and Gorieva Viktoria Volodymyrivna, Chief Specialist of the Department for Normative and Methodological Records Management Supply for the Records Management, Compilation, Preservation and Stocktaking Office, the National Archival Service of Ukraine, on «The research of activities of the Ukrainian branch of the Research Institute for Planning and Standards due to the Sate Plan in Kyiv City: Economic and Informological Directions of Records Keeping Researches», submitted for acquisition of PhD degree (Historical Sciences) on specialization 27.00.02 – Records Keeping, Archival Study.
By the decision of the members of the Specialized Academic Council S. М. Zozulya and V. V. Gorieva were awarded the scientific degree of PhD (Historical Sciences).

In accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine from November, 30, 2012 No 1351 in the URIAARK was formed the Specialized Scientific Council К. 26.864.01 with the right to consider and provide the defence of candidate dissertations on historical sciences on specializations 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines and 27.00.02 – Documents Study, Archival Study for three years period.
