Postgraduate Study

Postgraduate study in the Ukrainian Research Institute of Archival Affairs and Records Keeping provides the training of scientific personnel on specializations 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines (from February, 28, 2003), 07.00.01 – History of Ukraine (from November, 01, 2004) and 27.00.02 - Documents Study, Archival Study (from November, 30, 2012).

Postgraduate traning creates complete system of multilevel training of scientific personnel for archival sphere, qualitative increase of level of archival education in higher educational establishments of different accreditation levels, providing state archival institutions with highly qualified scientific staff.

The Postgraduate Study acts under the Regulations on Training Scientific-Pedagogical Staff (the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from March, 01, 1999 No 309) and the Regulations on the Post-Graduate Study in the Ukrainian Research Institute of Archival Affairs and Records Keeping.

The Institute comprises two departments – Department of Archival Study and Department of Records Keeping which research subject is closely interconnected with specializations of the Postgraduate Study.

For information supply of researches on postgraduate specializations within the system of the State Archival Service of Ukraine function central, regional та branch archives which store necessary records. Considerable assistance in research work is provided by State Scientific Archival Library of Ukraine and the Sector of Scientific and Technical Information of the URIAARK, which functions as the Branch Centre of Scientific and Technical Information on Archival Affairs and Records Keeping. The main objective of the Centre is to provide archival institutions of Ukraine with scientific and technical information.

Training of postgraduate students takes place in accordance with:

– the state order;

– the expense of legal and natural persons under contract;

– agreements between the Institute and archival institutions.

Information for Postgraduates

The Ukrainian Research Institute of Archival Affairs and Records Keeping provides preparation and taking candidate exams on specializations 07.00.01 – History of Ukraine, 07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines and 27.00.02 – Documents Study, Archival Study for postgraduates.

On assistance to postgraduate students and applicants of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Archival Affairs and Records Keeping: Periodical and non-periodical editions on the historical studies topics, published in Ukraine, and foreign editions of the Ukrainian studies topics: Materials for the Bibliography.


NB   Postgraduates, who study, preserving their job place, and successfully carry out individual work plan, at the workplace are provided with additional paid annual vacation of 30 days for candidate examinations and conduct of dissertation and at their request, during four years – a spare day a week from his pay of 50 percent of average salary. Annual leave does not include travel time from job to the location of the scientific establishment and back. The cost of travel bears the postgraduate student himself (p. 42 Regulations on the Preparation of Scientific-Pedagogical and Scientific Staff).


Admission


The Ukrainian Research Institute of Archival Affairs and Records Keeping provides training in postgraduate study department in specializations:

07.00.01 – History of Ukraine;

07.00.06 – Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines;

27.00.02 – Documents Study, Archival Study.

Preparation of highly qualified scientific personnel shall be carried out in accordance with Regulations on the Preparation of Scientific-Pedagogical and Scientific Staff, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from March, 1, 1999  № 309, the Procedure for Awarding Scientific Degrees and Academic Rank of Senior Researcher Worker, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from March, 7, 2007  № 423, with regard to the Resolution of the Higher Attestation Committee of Ukraine from March, 12, 1998 

Admission to postgraduate study is allowed to persons having educational qualification of the «Specialist of Science» or «Master of Science».

The term of postgraduate study – 4 years (correspondence course).

Applicants shall pass exams on specializations «Philosophy» and «Foreign Languages» in the curriculum of the state exam for Master of Science and Specialist of Science according to the specialization approved by the Specialized Academic Council of the Institute.

Decisions on admission to entrance exams to postgraduate study the Admission Committee of the Institute shall make after consideration of abstract and / or submitted scientific papers.

Applicants who at the time of admission into the postgraduate study course passed all or some candidate exams are exempted from those entrance exams and their assessment on candidate exams is enrolled.

Admission is on a general basis for the amount of points received for entrance exams. After receiving the same amount of points preferential right when enrolling in postgraduate study course have applicants who work in the archival field.

Results of applying to postgraduate study are valid for the calendar year.

All exams are paid.

For admission to postgraduate study applicants should submit the following documents:

– statement addressed to the Director of the Institute;

– personal piece of accounting personnel and autobiography;

– copy of diploma of higher education and its annex;

– list of scientific publications (applicants who have published scientific papers, abstracts submitted to the chosen specialty);

– certificate of folding candidate exams (if any);

– medical certificate of health in Form 086-C;

– certificate of employment;

– 4 photos 3х4.

Copies of documents must be submitted duly certified.

Passport and Diploma of Higher Education must be served by entrant personally.

NB   Persons admitted to the entrance exams to the postgraduate school ... on the job, for the preparation and entrance exams are given annually additional paid leave in the workplace on the basis of 10 days for each examination. Persons, who enter the postgraduate school with one or more composite candidate examinations, use additional paid leave for entrance exams remaining at the rate of 10 days for each examination. Persons, who have passed all candidate exams, do not use the right to additional leave for entrance exams to the postgraduate school in the workplace (p. 38 Regulations on the preparation of scientific and pedagogical staff).
